Microwave Baked Apples

November 7, 2016

Baked Apples are a perfect fall treat. If you aren't feeling like making something elaborate but would still love a presentation quality dish, then this is a must have recipe for you. Baked Apples are simple to make, delicious and are timeless. They have been cooked for many centuries and continue to be enjoyed during our fall apple harvests. Our recipe is an even easier twist! Quick, easy, simple and ready in under 10 minutes.

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Cook: 5 mins
  • Yields: 4 Baked Apples

Apples 4 Large (with Skin On)

Sinfully Cinnamon Seasoning Blend 4 Tablespoons

Brown Sugar 2 Tablespoons

Walnuts 2 Tablespoons (chopped)

Raisins or Cranberries (optional) 3 Tablespoons

Butter 2 Tablespoons, softened

1Prepare your apples. Cut a small round hole through the top of your apple and using a spoon scoop out the core and seeds. Try not to break through the bottom end of the apple during scooping.

2Place your apples in a microwave safe dish, cut side up.

3In a small bowl combine Sinfully Cinnamon, Brown Sugar, Walnuts and cranberries or raisins. Toss together. Scoop 1/4 of the mixture into each apple, filling the hole.

4Add a dollup (about 1/2 tablespoon) of butter on the top of each apple.

5Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap (We prefer BPA Free). The seal must be air tight

6Microwave on high for 4 to 6 minutes. (The plastic wrap will bubble up while cooking. This is normal as you are creating a perfect steamed apple dish!

7Using pot holders or mitts, remove your dish from the microwave and carefully pull the plastic wrap off (away from your face).

8Let your apples cool for five minutes and serve!

9Serve A la Mode (French Vanilla Ice Cream is our Go to!), or top with a little VIVE! Cocoa & Vanilla Granola or a drizzle of maple syrup

For a Fancy Presentation, cut the tops of the apples and bake at the same time. Serve with your tops and your bottoms (as shown in the photo)
